Amma Thanasanti

Amma Thanasanti first encountered the Dharma over 40 years ago and has been teaching worldwide for 25 years. As a former Buddhist nun of 26 years, she combines the precision and rigor of Ajahn Chah Forest Tradition and a passion for wholeness. 

Combining Amma’s decades of health issues with her background in Biology and Biochemistry, she brings neuroplasticity knowledge, anxiety hacks and practical skills, to help us make skillful use of meditation particularly when our bodies and minds are challenged.

Amma’s teaching style emphasizes deep listening, authenticity, inquiry, fierce compassion, warmth, humor and an unwavering commitment to presence. She feels a special calling to work with students from diverse communities, connecting across differences of culture, race, gender, sexuality and ability. Her strength is empowering others to find their own way. She invites an openness to pause and inquire into the truth of the present moment, integrating what is liberating at the core of our human condition into every aspect of life, bringing the soft underbelly of our human experience into contact with what is timeless and ever present.
